Easter is such a special time of year but sometimes I feel as though it is under-celebrated. It is when Christ rose again, so that we could have everlasting life. It's a time to celebrate renewal and new beginnings.
If we had four seasons here in the Caribbean, Easter would represent spring. It's a time to freshen up, a reminder to be grateful and to know that you too can always rise again.
Therefore when we relate this to the interior design world, that’s exactly what we want to do. We should all aim to create some new life, keep things fresh and be grateful for what and who are in our lives.
So! Let us look at some ways that we can do this in our homes to liven things up abit!

# 1) CHANGE UP YOUR ACCESSORIES!
You can spruce things up by adding some beautiful pastel Easter colours to any room in the house. Look at the accessories and soft furnishings you already have and see where you can inject some lovely Easter colours like the picture on your left. Accessories like cushions, curtains & drapes, rugs , pictures or paintings and ornaments.
These little things have a big impact especially if you make them colourful so that they can catch the eye. Your place will have a fresh new look, just by switching up a few accessories.

# 2) DECORATE EASTER STYLE!
Think pastels, greenery, florals and anything that represents new life and Easter. For the kids, things that represent Easter would be baskets, Easter eggs and chocolates!!! We can't forget those.

# 4) DO SOMETHING MEANINGFUL
As mentioned above, Easter is a time when things come back to life. Why not make it meaningful? Plant something for the future, that will spring to life. Planting seeds is a great idea. It can be a tree, plant or flowers and you can make it meaningful to you and your family. Plant seeds with great intentions and watch them grow over the years.
Or! Imagine about 20 years from now, opening a container that has been filled with memories that you and your family personally chose, with the intention of strolling down memory lane or seeing if your dreams and aspirations were realised. That's the idea behind a time capsule. This can be done for any occasion but again, why not Easter?
You and your family can create an Easter that you will never forget by taking pictures, and snippets of things that happened around that time period. Newspaper clippings, what you ate on that Easter, what you all aspire to be 20 years later. Set a date and time in the future and then open that baby up. That is a wonderful way to celebrate an Easter you will never ever forget. The date and time that you choose to open it, is up to you but since we are talking about Easter, opening it on an Easter in the future would make it more sentimental. # 5) EASTER ENTERTAINING Stations
Easter is another occasion that we celebrate with friends and family. One of the best and most common ways, is to break bread with the people you love.
Why not have some fun! When you are entertaining, stick with the theme, make your guest get involved by creating several little stations for people to help themselves. It will add some decor and people will love it!
You can have a hot cross buns station with hot cross buns of course and several toppings to choose from like, butter, jam, cheese or whatever you and your guest may like. An Easter desert station will also be a hit, you can get creative with the different toppings for each dessert, just make sure you include something Easter themed, like mini Easter eggs.
