HOW TO PLAN AHEAD FOR CHRISTMAS !!! PART(2)

As promised! I am continuing a previous post about prepping for the Christmas holidays. If you didn't get a chance to read the first post, you can click here to catch up!

We previously covered the 'To Do' lists for the months of September, October and November. Therefore, in this post, I will focus on Christmas preparations for the month of December. Let's do a quick checklist and then tackle what needs to be done closer to Christmas time!

HOW TO PLAN AHEAD FOR CHRISTMAS !!! PART(2)

DECEMBER

Its December! Let’s check that to do list!

NO. TASK STATUS

1. Gift shopping Done

2. New Furniture Already in place or on its way

3. Soft furnishings Already in place or already bought

4. The hard cleaning Done

5. House enhancements Done

6. Christmas cards Already sent out

Look at that! So much is behind you, all you have to do now are the very things that make the Christmas holidays special.

For the month of December, you really only have three weeks to prepare. That is why it is such a good idea to plan ahead and you can leave the more enjoyable tasks until the final month. Remember! our aim is to enjoy Christmas and not to let the season tire us out!

ENTERTAINING

If you plan on entertaining for the holidays , it's a great idea to actually have an invitation. You can go old school and make formal hard copy invitations or you can go electronic. Add some glitz and glam to those invites and impress your guests! You now have time to make the invitations more personal and special. You can include a menu and you can get fancy with your holiday decor because now, you have planned ahead! You should do this in the first week of December or some people would prefer to do it earlier, like in November.

Decorate!

The latest this should be done is the first week in December. I feel like we need to make the most of the season because it passes so quickly. I know this is not possible for some people but let's try our best! The earlier the better! This too is a family affair, get everyone involved and let's make this Christmas one to remember. Dress the tree and the rest of your home, get that Christmas spirit going!

The Home Stretch

If you plan to do any baking or cooking, you should shop for the bulk of your ingredients by the second week of December. That way, you have the majority of the things you need at home.

Now you have more time to relax and if you need to, you can do some last minute shopping for some fresh ingredients and last minute gifts.

You now have the time to exchange gifts, add any last minute home accessories and put all of your new curtains and other soft furnishings in place!

All that is left to do now is some sweet Christmas cooking and baking and just like that! it is all over. So make sure you enjoy the journey and not just the day.

Now that you have prepared ahead of time, hopefully this year you won't be too tired and you will have a wonderful Christmas!
