I wanted to begin with something that everyone has and that’s a corner. Find a corner in your home that you know can fit a chair and a desk. You can also use the vertical space and create a floating desk or better yet! One that folds open and shut when necessary. Your vertical space (walls) are very important in small spaces, this is where you can store everything you need.

#2 UNDER THE STAIRS
If you have a stairway in your home and the space created beneath it is not being used, you now have a great space for a home office. Many people tend to be unsure about this area and because of this it remains unused but no space in a home should be without purpose. This too can accommodate a desk ,chair and storage which would create a cute little office.

#3 BEHIND A COUCH
Sometimes in our living rooms, we have a sofa that acts as a divider, what I mean by this is that the sofa is placed in the middle of a space to show a clear indication that you are now entering the living room. People should also know that it is perfectly acceptable to place a table directly behind the sofa and this is a great space for an office as well. I do love when a design looks great and has good functionality. With this, you have a couch in the front to relax and a work space at the back. Now that is functionality!

#4 IN THE CLOSET
This is a great little space, especially if it is a general closet, like a linen closet. I know some of us need all of the space we can get but you can have a closet space that functions as both an office and a closet. Think about it! You can use the top shelves for all of your storage and the bottom can be created into an office. You can also shut the doors when you need to and no one will even know you have your very own office in there!

#5 BOOKSHELF/VANITY
When I refer to a vanity in this instance, I do not mean a bathroom vanity but rather, the ones found in bedrooms with closets on both sides. If you do have a vanity in your bathroom, do you also need one in the bedroom? If this is the case, this is a perfect office space as well. Just get rid of the mirror and replace it with shelves and boom! Welcome to your new office. This also works if you have a large bookshelf.

Some homes are built with these little recessed areas that have no real purpose, it is usually just an architectural design. If your home or space has a nook, these are ideal spaces for a home office. Again, they have more than enough wall space for storage and are tucked away.
This is one space that you do not need to over think. It is small, easy to create and effective!
